Ok guys this is an interesting news about facebook's SEO.
Finally what i have been suggesting for facebook and talking about it to my friends that facebook is the biggest social network online, but it lacked some major SEO terms and requirements. Now Facebook might achieve like 2 or 3rd place in ranking them 4.
So whats the change?
Facebook Never used rewrites of profile pages. The profile links of users have been somewhat like this www.facebook.com/profile.php?ID1238729387 something like this. which is not SEO Friendly.
Now Facebook is using a good rewrite for their profile links. Profiles links would be now written as www.facebook.com/username . this is very much better. Every Profile page link would indexed as a unique page while profile.php and followed by IDs were never treated as different pages.
A good change!! well done Facebook!!

Not sure I agree with the title of this post. If you haven't noticed, Facebook is the predominant ranking domain for name search. Additional improvements in SEO are being made along the way as well.
Lastly, I doubt that vanityurl's were made solely for SEO reasons. With a site as big as Facebook, several cross-functional decisions were made regarding this. SEO was not the deciding factor, just a byproduct.
yes i totally agree. but if u would go to website.grader.com or anyother seo analysis tool or site u will see that still facebook is at 93% of optomization because they dont have a single meta tag in any of their page!! while one of my client http://www.blastingart.com we just started and in the first two months reached to 98.1 % . No doubt facebook is dominent coz of its large number of traffic , but wht i talked about was only its seo
